Who can access KRIZ data?

KRIZ Observatory data is freely available to researchers from accredited institutions worldwide. You'll need to create an account and submit a brief access request describing your research. Most institutional affiliates receive approval within 2-3 business days.

What data formats are available?

We provide data in multiple formats: HDF5, FITS, NetCDF, and raw binary. You can request specific formats during download, and most are supported across our API and web portal.

Are there quotas on data downloads?

Standard accounts: 10 TB/month. Research accounts (institutional): 100 TB/month. Higher quotas available for active collaborations. Contact us for custom arrangements.

How do I cite KRIZ data?

Include the appropriate data release DOI and publication. Each dataset includes specific citation guidance. See our Publications page for examples.

What is the data processing latency?

Raw observations are typically processed and archived within 2 hours. Real-time gravitational wave events are available within 1.2 seconds of detection.

Do you provide computing resources?

We provide cloud storage and API access. For compute-intensive analysis, we partner with cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud) who offer data co-location pricing.

Can I access data via FTP or rsync?

For large bulk transfers, rsync and direct FTP are available. Contact our technical support team (support@kriz.is) for access credentials.

What if I experience API issues?

Email our technical support team at api@kriz.is. Priority issues (system down) receive response within 4 hours; standard issues within 24 hours.

Are there access restrictions on any datasets?

Most data is open access. Proprietary or early-release datasets may have embargo periods. Restrictions are clearly noted in dataset documentation.

How do I report a data quality issue?

Contact our data team at dataaccess@kriz.is with specific details (dataset, time range, issue description). We investigate and provide updates within 5 business days.
